10 Doomed Upcoming Movies That Could Be Great
10. Bond 26
There was understandably much doom and gloom when Amazon announced that they'd acquired the James Bond franchise from custodians Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, given their stated desire to expand the property into a larger cinematic universe with spin-offs, TV shows, and so on.
But Amazon certainly persuaded many that they were taking the next big-screen chapter of the franchise seriously when they recently announced that the legendary Denis Villeneuve (Dune) will be directing the currently untitled 26th Bond film.
Villeneuve is one of the fandom's top-tier dream picks, probably second only to Christopher Nolan, and so to see him bring his astonishing filmmaking to the world of 007 is tremendously exciting, no matter how little we know about the new movie.
Though Villeneuve is currently busy shooting Dune: Part Three, meaning that Bond 26 likely won't release until 2028 at the very earliest, hiring him to direct was a pure masterstroke on Amazon's part, to turn to the tide of public opinion on both the film and their wider acquisition of the brand.
