6. Avengers Disassembled

Brought about by Scarlet Witch's powers (the Marvel Universe's reality-warping McGuffin, from this point onward), this particular event might do well in an alternate universe, standalone film, or even an animated one in the spirit of the DCAU and DC Animated's past projects.

In this story, Doctor Doom takes control of Scarlet With with his magic, driving her mad and causing her to destroy the Avengers from the inside out. It's an exceedingly dark storyline, one that reshaped much of the Marvel Universe. The zombified Jack of Hearts comes to Avengers Mansion and explodes as a human bomb, killing Scott Lang. The years sober Iron Man is forced into magically induced drunkenness before the UN. Ultron drones spawn out of Vision's body. Kree forces attack Manhattan and Hawkeye is killed stopping them.

It's a series of increasingly terrible occurrences orchestrated by Doom, the consequences of which last for years, leading to other famous events such as House of M, Civil War, Dark Reign, among others, and resulting in the deaths of multiple heroes and the formation of legacy teams such as the Young Avengers.

As a standalone, it could spawn its own (perhaps animated) universe that follows the comics more closely.
