10 Failed Movie Castings That Were A Blessing In Disguise

3. Emma Watson And Miles Teller As Moa And Sebastian In La La Land

Casting Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as the leading lovebirds in Damien Chazelle's La La Land seemed like a stroke of casting genius. The two had showcased their spectacular chemistry in Crazy, Stupid, Love and they brought that exceptional fire to their performances in the 2016 Oscar winner.

So, it may come as a surprise to hear that these two were in fact not the original choices for either role.

Miles Teller was so close to landing the role of Sebastian that he very nearly quit War Dogs to be a part of it, as that film's schedule would clash with the musical's shoot. He found out - via phone call from his agent - that Chazelle would be heading in another direction, thus having his decision made for him.

Emma Watson on the other hand, had been pencilled in to play Mia in the film. She would then sign up to play Belle in the live action remake of Beauty and the Beast and simply couldn't do both projects at the same time.

The pieces would fall into place for Gosling and Stone and an Oscar nomination and win, respectively, followed.
