10 Famous Unmade Comic Book Movies We WISH We Could Have Seen
2. Justice League: Mortal
When George Miller first signed on to direct Justice League: Mortal back in 2007, he was arguably better known at the time for being the director of Babe and Happy Feet than he was for being the mastermind behind the Mad Max franchise. However, a detour into family films didn't mean that he wasn't the right man for helming what was at the time an unprecedented kind of comic book movie.
The script was ready and good to go, the eclectic cast had been assembled, a crew was hired, locations were scouted and costume design had started before Warner Bros. decided not to move forward on their Justice League adaptation. Which came a little out of the blue, seeing as they had only recently fast-tracked it into production for a second time.
Although there was no guarantee that it would have been a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, the sheer scale of it would have been awe-inspiring. Based on what we've seen from Miller since, the thought of Mad Max: Fury Road's jaw-dropping use of practical stunts and pyrotechnics being applied to the superhero genre would have no doubt been something awesome to behold.
The filmmaker came agonizingly close to getting the $220m blockbuster into production, but now that the Snyder Cut has finally become a reality, Miller will have to make do with reclaiming the title of being the man behind the most famous Justice League movie that never existed.
