10. Superman III

The third Superman movie is a relic from an era where studios didn’t know what the hell they were doing with comic book movies. The film makes Superman a supporting player in his own franchise, and instead focuses on Richard Pryor’s annoying criminal.

It’s a weird hybrid of unfunny crime comedy and superhero movie, and it’s remarkably dull most of the time. Christopher Reeve is still great and is clearly having fun playing the corrupted version of Superman midway through, but even he couldn’t save it. Lois Lane is reduced to a cameo, Lex Luthor is replaced by a lame substitute and there isn’t even any decent action.

Coming off the back of two great movies Superman III was a massive disappointment to fans, who wisely steered clear of Superman IV: The Quest For Peace a few years later.
