10 Films That Really Didn't Deserve Razzie Nominations

5. Mother!

In one of the strangest nominations of the last decade, Darren Aronofsky's experimental fever-dream of a film was nominated in several categories. These nominations included high honors for Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, and Aronofsky himself.

Mother! is certainly not a film for everyone and was quite divisive upon release. Audiences responded particularly harshly, as evidenced by the infamous F Cinemascore and the several walk-outs anyone who attended the film in theaters can surely attest to. However, critics responded a bit differently. While still a bit split on the details, they overwhelming came down in favor of the film.

Part of what makes Mother!'s nominations so egregious is the fact that the film is so daring. Love it or hate it, you haven't seen a film like it in cinemas this decade. It is a film that is constantly evolving as it goes, leaning more and more on biblical allegory, and absolutely refusing to hold the audience's hand to guide them through it for even a second. It is a difficult watch, but that's the whole point.

Considering the film has already amassed a cult following in the mere months since its release, its a fairly safe bet to say this film already has some uncomfortable similarities to another divisive film that the Razzies overwhelmingly 'praised', only to regret it for decades to come...
