10 Great Movies Ruined By A Moronic Release Date

3. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - (May 28th, 2010)

Remember earlier when I said 2010 was a bad year for Disney films, where they took much-appreciated risk with little comeback? Well, Prince of Persia was another victim of those poor made decisions by the Powers That Be at Disney. Once again, it can be argued that the film was okay, and may not have been critically what Disney wanted. But much like the other victims of Disney€™s 2010 I retort that with better advertising and maybe some tweaks in the script these movies could have been just that. But all-in-all, Prince of Persia was a great film for what it was and if it came out as a blockbuster I promise you that the masses would have spoken differently and demanded sequels. It was almost impossible to make this movie the next Pirates of the Caribbean €” as it was being called at the time by the filmmakers €” with the situation it was given. Disney tried to push three big-budget movies, one a month, in the summer of 2010. To be honest, consider this spot on the list shared with The Sorcerer€™s Apprentice as it fought for Disney's gold medal against the instant classic Toy Story 3 and of course Prince of Persia, all at the same time. It was like the Hunger Games of movie releases. There was no way Disney was going to make evenly distributed advertisements on these films and get proper profit. And to top it off, POP opened against Sex and the City 2, pretty much splitting the weekend€™s audiences. And neither of these two films even opened at number one against Shrek 4.
