10 Great Movies Starring The American Horror Story Cast

She has appeared in five seasons of the horror anthology so far, and is undoubtedly one of the most iconic stars of the show, but one of Lange's lesser known performances was in 2003 fantastical comedy Big Fish.

While the film itself has something of a cult following, Lange's role is fairly small, meaning that she's easily forgotten amongst Big Fish's bizarre set pieces and saccharine Southern Gothic charm.

Lange plays Sandra Bloom's older self, the wife of dying protagonist Edward Bloom (Albert Finney). The film is told through a series of colourful vignettes, anecdotal larger-than-life tales of Edward's younger days as his son remembers his father's outlandish stories.

Big Fish was given a unique fairytale aura by director Tim Burton, delivering a heartfelt, heartwarming examination of the difficulties of the father/son relationship and the legacies we leave behind when we die.

It's singularly sweet and deserves a spot at the top of your watchlist.
