3. Precious (2009) - Gabourey Sidibe

Gabourey Sidibe didn't appear in American Horror Story until its third season, Coven, when she was cast as Queenie, the human voodoo doll, one of the witches in the titular coven.

She reprised the role of Queenie in Hotel and Apocalypse, and she also appeared in Freak Show as Regina Ross.

However, American Horror Story is far from the actress' most memorable role - that's an honor awarded to her first ever screen credit.

Sidibe's acting debut came in the 2009 film Precious, an award-winning adaptation of the novel Push by Sapphire.

Precious tells the story of the titular teen mother, an impoverished victim of abuse, as she discovers she is pregnant with her second child at sixteen years old.

Sidibe's turn as Precious is absolutely iconic, and earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
