Danny Boyle has long since proven himself one of the most eclectic directors around, having made everything from drug-themed dramas (Trainspotting) to epic space adventures (Sunshine). Here he shows other horror directors how it should be done with this ferociously scary Brit horror that€™s set four weeks after a deadly virus has spread throughout the country. A handful of survivors, played by the likes of Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris, then try to make their way to a military safe zone they heard about over the radio. From the early sequence in which Murphy's unsuspecting hospital patient wakes up and walks around an eerily deserted London, it€™s clear that this is a truly special piece of horror filmmaking. There€™s a terrific verocity to the way Boyle directs it, helping give the scenes of the Rage-infected monsters (for all intents and purposes zombies) running full speed at their victims a sense of terrifying urgency.
