Well worthy of its Oscar nomination, Sir Pauls title track manages to be playful and tense at the same time. Starting off slow and wistful, the song doesnt take long to start rocking out and turning into a fast paced chase tune. While it may not have fit the more funky/70s tone of the overall film (both in story and in musical content), it surely started the film with a much needed bang and transitioned Bond themes from their previous pedigree into a hybrid of film music and pop music.This robbed the franchise a little of its edginess, but it could be argued that it also drew more attention and more mass appeal to a franchise that was still in its early stages.
