Not only have I not watched this movie but I couldn't even bring myself to re-watch the opening for this list. That said, I obviously have seen this clip before hence why I needed to include it here. The very reason I haven't yet been able to watch this film is because honestly, this opening is, in my opinion, the scariest opening to a film (in fact, the most scared I have ever been in any film) I have ever ever seen... and I was so scared the first time I saw it that I haven't been able to watch it since. It really did leave that much of an impact on me psychologically... maybe you think I am crazy because of this. I'd be interested to know what scares you and whether this scene gives you a similar reaction. Similar to The Shining, this opening is masterful at juxtaposition, presenting an average suburban family to the audience before suddenly overloading their senses with an out of place eerily and unexpected musical track and blood red thick credits. This is a genius opening... though even though I don't get scared by most things (honestly, it takes a lot to scare me) I still can't bring myself to watch this.
