2. The Invitation

When Daario Nahaaris was introduced to Game of Thrones, many source material fans were disappointed, as although Ed Skrein is a great performer, his casting did not hit the mark at all. When the character was recast, it came as a relief, as Michiel Huisman did an outstanding job with the part. Another role that Huisman does fantastically in is from a horror movie called The Invitation, an utterly claustrophobic, tense and well-executed thriller.

The Invitation depicts a night in Hollywood Hills, where a divorced man is invited to a dinner party by his ex-wife Eden. There is an uncomfortable vibe at this party, which at first seems inevitable thanks to the awkward set-up. However, it soon becomes clear that the tension in the air is a result of sinister motives, rather than simple unease.

The film's pacing is phenomenal, as it trusts its audience to stick through it while it slowly builds to the pure horror of the scenario. Putting in the time to get to know the characters and enjoy the slow build is incredibly rewarding, and it delivers on a phenomenal experience.

This film is truly worth watching, and Huisman's uncanny performance as Eden's new husband is a big highlight for the feature.
