Diamonds Are Forever was a bit of a letdown for Connery's final outing as 007, butchering what was a decent enough Fleming novel and making it an over-camp finale for Connery (but we'll talk about that later). Part of the sheer absurdity of the film which abruptly kills off series antagonist Blofeld are the pair of bodyguards that a millionaire has to protect him from intruders. While the pair of them, Bambi and Thumper (Lola Larson and Trina Parks respectively), are rather silly throwaway characters to begin with, its their outfits that are the weirdest. While Thumper is marginally less bizarre in a shocking yellow bikini, it's Bambi in a strange circus-performer-meets-French-ingenue outfit of brown top, red choker and red bobble hat (or what at least looks like one). Less of a pair of deadly assassins and more two disappointing villainesses.
