10 Legacy Sequel Movies Everyone Actually Wants To See

2. The Mummy 4

The Brendan Fraser-starring Mummy trilogy remains fondly remembered by fans, no matter the more middling quality of the latter two entries. And once Tom Cruise's 2017 reboot fell flat critically and commercially, many called for Universal to return to the prior iteration.

It's been almost 15 years since the release of Fraser's last Mummy movie - 2008's The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - and though Fraser doesn't cut quite the same dashing figure today, he's still got the charm necessary for a reprise of roguish adventurer Rick O'Connell.

Given that Fraser's had something of a career comeback in recent years, there's considerable interest in a legacy sequel to his Mummy trilogy, especially if Rachel Weisz can be lured back to play Evelyn Carnahan once again (after she was ill-advisedly recast with Maria Bello in the previous film).

The recent success of adventure films like Jungle Cruise, Uncharted, and The Lost City proves there's certainly a thirst for these light-hearted adventure romps, and there's absolutely enough of a nostalgic swell for the Fraser Mummy trilogy - especially the 1999 original - to make a new movie viable.
