2. Rogue One & Fantastic Beasts Gross Over $1 Billion

2015 saw a record-breaking five movies gross more than $1 billion, and though 2016 probably won't break that record again, it'll get pretty close with at least four movies crossing the coveted mark.

Captain America: Civil War and Zootopia are already there, and they'll likely be joined by both Star Wars: Rogue One and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

For one, to see a Star Wars movie not gross $1 billion these days would be bizarre, especially with Donnie Yen's presence likely contributing heavily to the Chinese box office.

As for Fantastic Beasts, it's a Harry Potter spin-off written by J.K. Rowling herself and starring a beloved British actor in Eddie Redmayne, so it'll be a box office slam dunk, even if only one of the eight Potter movies themselves actually ever crossed the billion dollar mark. Still, six years later, with fans thirsty for more Potter lore on screen, it'll grab a cool billion, albeit perhaps just narrowly.
