4. Entirely Re-Inventing The Joker

Ok, so the suggestion that anyone could replace Heath Ledger is bound to upset those fans who are precious about the protection of dead actors€™ work, but Nolan€™s Joker should have lived on. Suicide Squad is reportedly going to introduce the Joker as a Hannibal Lecter type figure who has been locked up for some time. Given that The Dark Knight ended with the Clown Prince Of Crime behind bars, and tragic real life circumstances meant any resolution was removed from the follow-up, the timeline could simply have been ret-conned slightly to reveal they€™re one and the same. After all, Batman is an older veteran who presumably must have met his arch-nemesis already, and suggesting that he too is a continuation of Nolan€™s timeline would have been both simple and infinitely marketable. And the Joker isn€™t the only one who should have been kept from Nolan€™s work€
