10 More Hidden Gem Zombie Movies You've Probably Never Seen
Just when you thought you'd seen all the good zombie movies already!
Once upon a time, Zombies were everywhere for the better part of two decades. They shambled along in popular TV shows, have movies on every streaming service, and feature in countless comics. Though zombie movies aren't made with the same frequency as they used to, the odd release trickles in proving that movies about the undead are still shuffling along, just like their relentless on-screen counterparts.
Now, of course, everybody has seen the big ones. Romero's famous franchise of 'Dead' movies is quintessential viewing, and you'd have to be living under a rock not to have seen Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead or the Resident Evil franchise. However, there are more features out there that will satisfy your undead fix. You just have to look a little deeper, and be willing to embrace the strange.
To avoid having to sift through the dime a dozen, bargain-basement B-movies that feature flesh-hungry ghouls devouring the poor (often stupid) folk who stand in their way, take a gander at this carefully curated collection of awesome zombie movies that you probably haven't seen.
As we all know, there's no keeping a good zombie down, and these movies prove it.
10. It Stains The Sands Red
It Stains the Sands Red is exactly the type of movie that rewards your experimental ventures into the independent sphere of lesser-known horror features. Directed by Colin Minihan, who's now making waves after quietly building his resume with titles such as Spiral, Grave Encounters, and Z, this is a zombie movie like no other.
Britanny Allen (The Boys) plays Molly, a woman who's trying to leave her tarnished past in a zombie-infested Los Vegas behind. With a remote airfield potentially providing a means of escape, she sets off on a life-changing journey through the desert on foot whilst being relentlessly pursued by a lone zombie.
Thanks to its unique premise, and small cast, It Stains the Sands Red makes for a much-needed and refreshing change of pace for the zombie subgenre. Rather than a group of survivors fending for themselves against an unforgiving horde of meat-hungry monsters, it offers a slow burn escapade that's tonally diverse. Though it may not excel in any one area, it's a well rounded indie that warrants your attention.
