2. Final Destination

The premise driving the Final Destination series is the kind of brilliant thinking that comes around only once in a lifetime. Each film starts with the protagonist foreseeing a terrible disaster and saving people from it, only for the survivors to then be stalked by Death for avoiding their fate.

Much like Saw - though not quite as graphic - the movies are best watched for the ingenious ways in which each character meets their demise. These are films that make things as innocuous as tea towels deadly, and will make you think twice about using a sunbed or going to the gym.

Action-packed and usually sporting a wicked cast, the series has a brief lull with its fourth instalment, but throughout the rest of its run has remained one of horror's most exciting properties.

As of this writing, a sixth film is currently in the works after a ten-year absence, and it's safe to say people will queuing out the door to witness its destruction in all its glory.
