2. Jamie Lee Curtis - Star Trek: Section 31

In what's probably the "what the hell, sure" casting choice of the past year, we have Jamie Lee Curtis' head-scratcher of a cameo in the Star Trek: Section 31 TV film.

In the final scene of the movie, Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) and her team receive a holo call from Control, the AI director of the secret Starfleet division Section 31.

Lo and behold, Control is played by Curtis, who sports mechanical implants in her head and shows up for all of about 30 seconds to tell the team that their next mission will take them to Turkana IV.

Seeing Curtis in a Star Trek movie is just inherently jarring, even if you consider that she most likely scored this cameo thanks to her friendship with her Everything Everywhere All at Once co-star Michelle Yeoh.

Coming at the end of a Trek movie that was near-universally panned by critics and fans alike, it was just another odd creative choice - but good for Curtis getting a quick and easy payday, right?
