4. Predator 2

While John McTiernan's cult sci-fi horror broke out - thanks in no small part to its chilling special effects and Arnold Schwarzenegger's presence - its 1992 sequel Predator 2 never quite managed to do so.

Initially ravaged by critics for being too dark, too violent and essentially too different to its predecessor, the film has gone on to become a cult classic in its own right, but it has never managed to turn the tide in the way that the 1987 original did.

It's a real shame too because Predator 2 makes some bold creative decisions that really sets it apart - from setting the hunt in a vivid futuristic Los Angeles to making the Predator more of a character - and Danny Glover proved himself a more than worthy successor to Arnie's imposing protagonist.

It's not Predator and it never will be; but in a way that's what makes Predator 2 so great.
