3. Treasure Planet

The one true Disney remake that needs to happen. Forget Dumbo and The Lion King. Those movies were already great. Treasure Planet was a diamond in the rough and a remake could polish it into something truly special. The original Treasure Planet was a financial disaster, and one of Disney’s biggest mistakes. Conceived as “Treasure Island in space”, the movie suffered years of development hell and poor marketing, resulting in it losing $100 million domestically.

But what Disney need to realise is that the concept was great. The visuals were gorgeous and the characters were well fleshed-out, making for a really memorable film. It really is the perfect candidate for a live-action pirate film to replace the stagnating Pirates of the Caribbean series. And it has fine sequel potential too. Please, Disney, we’re begging you!
