Remember Annie? The little redheaded orphan who ended up living in a mansion with an old bald guy? Uh-huh. Considered to be something of a classic musical (though not quite so classic a movie), I remember watching this as a child and feeling depressed. I don't know why. It just struck me so. Too many orphans, perhaps, or was it just weird seeing Albert Finney playing a character called "Daddy Warbucks"? The iconic songs you'll know: "Hard-Knock Life," "Tomorrow," uh... some other ones. It ran on Broadway for a whopping... six years? Is that it? Well, go figure. Will The Remake Be Any Good? Four words: Jay-Z is producing this. And the astute amongst you will remember that, yes, didn't Jay-Z sample "Hard-Knock Life" for a song once? Which, of course, means he's definitely the right person to be involved in this remake, 'cause he loves that song, see? Quvenzhané Wallis, the girl from Beasts of the Southern Wild, will be Annie, the director of Easy A, Will Gluck, is on directing duties, and Emma Thompson is helping with the script. I'm... I'm not sure what to say: the mix of personalities is too great for me to make a judgement.
