10 Movie Stunts That Went Horribly Wrong
10. Isla Fisher Almost Drowns - Now You See Me
A film about four extreme performing illusionists is bound to run into some problems on set and this time, it was Isla Fisher's near death experience drowning.
In the movie, the stage performer Henley Reeves has an act which involves an escape from being eaten alive by vicious piranhas, only to emerge alive in the crowds once the tank has turned red with 'blood'. Although she doesn't usually do her own stunts, Isla complied with being chained into the tank.
The top of the tank remained opened incase Fisher needed to go up for air, and there was also an emergency lever inside, which she could pull to alert crew if she needed help. But the chains she was attached to got stuck to the bottom and Isla couldn't swim to the top for help. She screamed for help underneath the water - but the producers thought it was all part of the act because her character is meant to look scared and under pressure.
Thankfully, one stunt coordinator clocked on that she was really drowning when he noticed the handcuffs were stuck. Fisher was stuck for a total of three minutes underwater and any longer could have been deadly.
