Happy Gilmore is one of the most popular studio comedies of the 1990s, and fans haven't ever stopped talking about the possibility of a sequel.

Their prayers were finally answered last year, then, when Netflix confirmed that they were developing the sports comedy sequel with star Adam Sandler, after which production came together shockingly fast, with Happy Gilmore 2 completing principal photography at the end of 2024.

Now, the number of decades-later comedy sequels that actually end up being worth it are desperately few and far between - especially those sent direct to streamers - but to their credit, Netflix did recently give us the pleasantly surprising Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.

Plus, Happy Gilmore 2 has original cast members Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller set to return alongside Sandler, as well as cameos from Bad Bunny, Kid Cudi, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, Eminem, Travis Kelce, and WWE superstar Becky Lynch.

Sandler's Netflix offerings have certainly been a wildly mixed bag to date - to be kind - but here's hoping that this one bucks the trend.
