10 Overlooked Factors That Make Ben Affleck's Batman Casting Great
1. He Doesn't Actually Have To Carry The Film Alone

While the working title is still "Batman vs Superman", It is a sequel movie to Man of Steel, whether that title remains or is changed. It's a Superman movie after all, not a Batman film, so it doesn't need a bulk performance by Affleck. Even though we as an audience don't have much information about what this movie is going to contain, consider some basic observations. There is going to be at the very least, one villain. That means Superman, Batman, and a Villain have to share screen time. That's at the bare minimum 33% of the film being utilized to develop Batman as a character (this is an oversimplified example). What does this mean for direction? It means Snyder will most likely not be rebooting Batman's origin. Rather, he will be retelling it, likely giving subtle background through Superman's eyes as he learns about the Dark Knight. It means Snyder will likely not be flashing back as much to his parents death either. He'll likely be using existing material for a character we ALL know; which means most of Affleck's screen time will be deliberate and specific to his purpose in the film. What the deliberate and specific purpose is, we don't know yet!? However, the necessity for the ridiculous acting chops many arguments are citing are unfounded and unneeded. The bulk screen time for Batman may actually be the climax; rather, a dual climax. His expected battle with Superman, and both of their battles with one or more Supervillains. While the intention in this statement isn't "Don't worry, we won't see him so much on screen, which means he'll have little chance to suck!" No...It means he's not the only, or most important, aspect of the film; Batman's just part of the story; an important part, but not the only part. So much debate, so little time.
