10 Painfully Bad One-Liners In Otherwise Great Movies

2. "It's The Avengers" - Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Avengers: Age of Ultron might be the weakest Avengers film but with Marvel being Marvel, it is still a great film overall. James Spader's portrayal of Ultron provides us with one of the most complex and interesting villains of the earlier Marvel phases. As enthralling as his performance may be, there is one in the film that is less so.

In Age of Ultron's opening, the Avengers are attempting to infiltrate a Hydra base in the fictional Sokovia to retrieve Loki's sceptre. It is at this point where an unnamed lackey raises the alarm stating, "Sir, it's the Avengers." This is yet another instance where delivery is everything.

There is nothing wrong with this line on paper but in the film, it's wooden, whiney and over dramatic. It ends up sounding like something out of a pantomime. At this stage in the MCU, Hydra supposedly pose the biggest threat to the Avengers. With people like this working for them, they undermine their own threat - it just doesn't work.
