The Naked Gun films that spun off from Leslie Nielsen's Police Squad were some of the best film spoofs made, with Nielsen's dry delivery as Detective Frank Drebin providing the laughs for audiences across the world. The first two films in the franchise had a great supporting cast and hilarious visual gags, 1994's third entry, Naked Gun 33 : The Final Insult was widely regarded as amusing but not having quite he same magic as the first two and the franchise ended there. But there were plans for a fourth film in the franchise and Leslie Nielsen was committed to Naked Gun 4: Rhythm of Evil before his untimely death in 2010. The possible direct-to-dvd sequel was set to have Leslie Nielsen train a young rookie but it was canned for financial reasons despite the script apparently being really funny. Now there are rumours of Paramount wanting to make a reboot of the Naked Gun franchise, but really, without Leslie Nielsen, what is the point?
