8. Her Military Background Offsets Pre-Ordained Objections
The social media sector (or the not quite ready for the internet players or a-holes like you and me) is waiting with baited breath to make a litany of idiotic comments hoping that someone will notice that they exist. This pathetic behaviuor makes the internet the opposite of everything it was packaged as back when those AOL start-up mailers became poor mans coasters, and continues to make artistic expression and even political progression more difficult than it needs to be. Basically, the first premier female super hero lead has to be troll-proof out of the gate, someone that cant easily be pulled down without sparking the ire of her supporters with equal hostility. As luck would have it, Major Carol Danvers is a member of the US Air Force. Suddenly, I feel like its a safe bet that many vets arent gonna sit idly by while a bunch of pasty-faced basement dwellers lampoon one of their own, fictional or otherwise. Comic book characters without direct military ties have capitalised on paying tribute to armed services, Major Danvers embodying that reverence to real life service men and women should be a no brainer.
