In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is the ultimate war between the gods, one which will ultimate lead to their deaths and rebirths, as well as the death and rebirth of the world. Therefore, using the word as the subtitle of the third Thor film makes quite the statement. Thor's previous two outings haven't fared as well at the box office as those of Iron Man and Captain America, but this one looks like a can't miss cataclysm. Given that rumors are swirling over Thor's demise in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and given that the Norse gods never really die for good, could this be where Thor makes his final, post-death stand? Could the rest of Asgard live or fall based on his actions? Ragnarok has a Marvel-specific meaning, as well - it's the name of the robotic Thor clone Tony Stark helped create during the superhero Civil War. With the Civil War storyline being adapted for Captain America 3, could we see the alternate Thor make an appearance? Could Ragnarok then give us Thor versus Thor? Either way, we know Chris Hemsworth and Tom HIddleston will be back. That's cause enough to bust out the mead.
