10 Reasons Miles Morales Shouldn't Be Spider-Man In Civil War

5. He Doesn't Have Enough History

If Marvel and Sony are going to tell the story of Miles Morales, the first movie could revolve around his family (yawn) and, uh, that's it really. This Spider-Man's rogues gallery is thin to say the least, with most of his most exciting adventures actually tied to Peter Parker's supporting cast (meeting Aunt May, Mary Jane, etc.) or villains like the Green Goblin. His interactions with a new Venom were actually really great, but drastically different takes on characters like that is why Sony failed in the first place. Their audience wants Eddie Brock or Flash Thompson in the symbiote, not Roxxon scientist Dr. Conrad Marcus. He means nothing to most Spider-Man movie fans. Marvel Studios are all about fan service at the end of the day, and it will be them steering Sony in the direction which will make moviegoers and fanboys alike happy. It's how they work. It can be argued that Peter Parker's stories and villains could be given to Miles, but what's the point of that exactly? It brings nothing new to the table, and instead just switches who's under the mask for the sake of it. There's nothing to be gained from that.
