Its the age-old question in comic fandom: who would win in a fight? In fact, its such a popular question that its now become a cliché for two superheroes to meet in a story, duke it out, and then later realize theyre on the same side and team-up against a common threat. An untold number of comic book stories have been based on this concept, including but certainly not limited to Avengers vs. X-Men, Alien vs. Predator, RoboCop vs. Terminator, Civil War, JLA/Avengers, even Marvel vs. DC. One of the most-famous match-ups is DCs pre-eminent superheroes, Superman and Batman. Theyve faced each other a few times in the comics and now its coming to the big screen in the form of Warner Brothers 2015 film, Batman vs. Superman. Recently, my WhatCulture colleague Sam Thorne wrote an article discussing ten reasons why the Dark Knight would win in a confrontation with the Man of Steel, and youre encouraged to check it out here. So I decided to take a look at it from the other end of the spectrum and come up with scenarios where Superman would win. Of course it should be noted that both heroes have their fair share of advantages. Superman is an alien with a vast array of superhuman abilities. Batman, while he lacks the power for a direct physical confrontation, is a master of stealth and subterfugehis secret weapon isnt his gadgets or his vehicles, but his mind. So lets see how a fight like this would break out.
