Edgar Wright began work on Ant-Man way back in 2006, even before Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of Iron Man got the MCU rolling. Wright was a promising director, and it was felt that he had the potential to make the character likeable enough to guarantee successful. But then sadly, in May 2014 Wright officially left the project citing creative differences, leaving many commentators suggesting that his vision for the tiny hero would never come to fruition. However, given that Wright put nearly eight years worth of work into the project, alongside writer Joe Cornish (who also left), is it really likely that none of their valuable input will make it into the final product? The departure of the director and the rapid introduction of Peyton Reed as his replacement sparked lots of speculation about the movies tone and direction, but it seems likely that at least some of Wrights presence, and importantly his geeky credentials, will be felt in the theatrical release, so it isnt worth losing all hope just yet.
