But take a look at the quantum of gags in Quantum of Solace to see how dreary 007 can be without a few quips. Christopher Nolans films are generally pretty po-faced, despite the best efforts of Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman to wring humour from their surroundings. And as mentioned above, a grimmer Bond would, at this stage, revisit well-trodden ground.
