10 Recent And Upcoming Monster Movies You MUST Watch
6. Kraken
Some of the biggest monsters of the sea, metaphorically and quite literally, have come in the forms of Jurassic World's Mosasaurus, Godzilla, and, of course, the Krakens of Clash of the Titans and Pirates of the Caribbean (the latter of which was insultingly and frustratingly killed off between Dead Man's Chest and At World's End).
Very recently, and quite coincidentally, two more leviathans have been added to such a list in two completely separate films simply titled Kraken. The first, a Russian effort in 2025, followed by a Norwegian 2026 outing.
The latter immediately boasts an interesting concept, as the tagline teases that only 5% of the ocean has been explored for a reason, with the titular beast lying in waiting at the bottom of a Norwegian fjord.
Unlike any of the names listed at the top of this entry, whose monsters are either small players in the larger film or, in Godzilla's case, spend the bulk of their time on land, Kraken is something different. Something more akin to The Meg, but without Jason Statham defying the laws of physics and swimming along the floor of the ocean.
