10 Recent And Upcoming Monster Movies You MUST Watch
5. Primitive War
It has been over 30 years since Jurassic Park was first released, and dinosaurs are still as relevant as ever in film and TV. From the multiple Jurassic Park and World sequels, to others like 65, and of course small screen efforts like Walking with Dinosaurs and the upcoming Netflix documentary series simply titled The Dinosaurs, it's still a popular genre.
In 2025, Primitive War released and offered its own unique story, in which a platoon in 1968 Vietnam found themselves sharing a jungle with prehistoric monsters. It more than scratches the dinosaur itch, and though it is no Jurassic Park, it is genuinely more enjoyable than some of the Jurrasic sequels.
In what is an incredibly quick turnaround, Primitive War has had a sequel of its own greenlit, set for a 2027 release.
With Luke Sparke returning to write and direct, the film will continue the story with a different set of characters and will go from discovery to escalation. Honestly, at this point, in spite of being flawed and seen as something of a B-movie comparison to Jurassic World: Rebirth, a Primitive War sequel feels far more appealing than a fifth Jurassic World entry.
