7. Njohrr - Predator: Badlands

One sure-fire way to get an audience to root for a protagonist is to give them a tough parental situation. Whether they are dead or straight up awful, Disney knows how to make this work, Marvel knows how to make this work, and now so does the Predator franchise.

Predator: Badlands, for the first time, put a Yautja into the role of protagonist, as Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) tried to prove himself worthy of his family's clan by going to the most dangerous planet and trying to kill its most dangerous resident.

The reason he was so hellbent on his mission was because of how he was treated by his father, Njhorr (also voiced by Schuster-Koloamatangi). The clan chief was ready to murder his own son in cold blood because he felt he weakened the clan, and he would have done so had Dek not been protected by his brother. Instead of Dek, his father simply killed his other son.

At the end of the film, after realising that he had nothing to prove to anyone, Dek returned home and fought his dad, killing him in what was one of the most satisfying scenes in the entire movie. Not only could he prove he was strong enough to be in the clan, Dek did it while avenging his brother at the same time.
