A movie without a single good idea in its 104 minutes, Catwomangets off to a bad start by €œreimagining€ the lead character as Patience Phillips (Halle Berry), a clumsy graphic designer who makes ads for Beau-Line, a beauty cream that (in theory) reverses the aging process.

In practice, it causes headaches, nausea and disfigurement, and when Halle discovers this, she€™s left for dead by Sharon Stone, who practically has Evil Villain written on her forehead. We€™ve barely reached the 20 minute mark and the film€™s biggest problem is already apparent: a heroine nothing like her comic book counterpart will spend the rest of the movie trying to save America from a skin care product.

You see, Stone knows all about the cream€™s side effects and, having presumably paid off the Food and Drug Administration, plans to launch it anyway, which will.give a lot of people headaches. And a bit of a rash. In order to stop this, Berry gets a superhero costume that covers her face but leaves her midriff exposed, which is enough to shield her identity from everyone, including Stone.

To think Roger Ebert hated this movie.
