10 Shocking Twists That Would Ruin 2016's Biggest Movies

3. William Shatner Cameos - Star Trek Beyond

They may have lost J.J. Abrams to his first sci-fi love, but Spock and Kirk are going to keep on trekking. In fact, you could say they're going to Star Trek Beyond Abrams, because the title of their new movie (due next year) is even more apt for punning than Into Darkness. The third/thirteenth instalment in the franchise is, however, going to be missing more than just the reboot's director - Leonard Nimoy sadly passed away earlier this year and thus Spock Prime won't be making an appearance in the film. However, that doesn't rule out a cameo from another Original Series star - even before Nimoy's passing there were rumours of William Shatner returning for a cameo as an older James T. Kirk. But while such a moment would no doubt appease die-hard Trekkies, it wouldn't really be a smart move. Aside from being somewhat disrespectful of Nimoy's memory, having any more time with legacy characters only cheapens the film at hand - three movies in it's time for the offshoot series to stand on its own. After all, Into Darkness had that scene where young Spock asks old Spock for help, pretty much the limit of time-travel stories; there's nowhere else to really go with cameos (other than fan service) after that.
