10 Teased Movies We Need To Admit Are Not Going To Happen
3. X-23
In the wake of the stunning impact of James Mangold's Logan, the director (and lots of people all over the world) expressed interest in bringing X-23 to the big screen in her own movie. Given the timeline issues, that would clearly have to be a stand-alone set far into the future that couldn't possibly overlap with any other X-Men movies.
As of October 2017, Mangold was working on a script and news later came that X-23 creator Craig Kyle would be involved in the project too. But then along came Disney and bought up Fox's Marvel rights and in March 2019 Fox executive Emma Watts seemingly confirmed X-23's cancellation by saying New Mutants would be the last X-Men movie in the Fox timeline.
Even without that hint - which was never a concrete confirmation - there's no way Disney will continue an existing timeline (Deadpool aside, because he's a different kettle entirely) as they fully reboot the X-Men into the MCU.
