Tom Hanks has a huge Box Office appeal and the Dan Brown book The Da Vinci Code was a best seller. Put the two together and of course you are going to have a successful film. But with a worldwide total of $758 million, wed still consider that some very good going. The film sold itself heavily on the controversial anti-Catholic Church angle and we were told that big secrets that would rock the foundations of the Western Worlds leading religions would be revealed. What we got was slightly different. A plodding story which dithers and panders to the source material so thoroughly, that it forgets to be a movie. This film feels long and by the time anything of interest happens we've already left and lived the rest of our lives. What seems credible on page is ludicrous in action.
