9. Any mention of social media or reference to the internet

The way we learn about continually breaking news these days is basically online. So why aren€™t survivors in modern films scrolling frantically through TweetDeck or their Facebook Newsfeed to find out what€™s happening during an outbreak? Obviously, a bunch of characters sitting around playing with their smartphones doesn€™t make compelling apocalyptic cinema. But continuing to ignore this huge part of the way we experience the world risks the suspension of disbelief. I can believe in zombies; I can€™t believe people wouldn€™t be sharing their undead-capturing Instagrams and Vines with the world. Recent history has shown that there€™s no scenario so terrifying it stops all the witnesses filming and uploading it to YouTube.
