10 Things You Need To Know About Sony's Spider-Man Universe Plans

4. The Wall-Crawler's World Could Soon Come To Television

Not too long ago, Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman Tony Vinciquerra and Sony Pictures Television boss Mike Hopkins confirmed that the studio has "seven or eight years" of plans for its Marvel characters both on the big screen...and the small one!

According to Vinciquerra, "[Sony's] television group will have its own set of characters from within that universe that we will seek to develop." Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller are said to be involved in some capacity and, honestly, the prospect of seeing some of these heroes and villains on TV is an exciting one.

It runs the risk of getting a little tedious if we're stuck with shows based on characters like Overdrive or Dominic Fortune, but imagine ones based on Scarlet Spider, Black Cat, and even The Daily Bugle, and this starts sounding quite a bit more exciting.

It's clearly early days, but just the fact Sony appears to have a plan puts them well ahead of other studios, including Warner Bros.' seemingly directionless DC Extended Universe.
