10 Things You Need To Know About The X-Men & Fantastic Four's MCU Future
10. The X-Men Might Not Be The "X-Men"
Dark Phoenix ensured that Fox's X-Men franchise ended with a whimper rather than a bang, and while Disney removed "X-Men" from the film's title, moviegoers aren't daft, and the name has been tainted (meaning it won't easy to lure people back into cinemas).
Well, Marvel Studios Executive Vice President of Production Victoria Alonso said last year that she believes the "X-Men" moniker is outdated, and alluded to "X-Women" or "X-People" perhaps being a more fitting title moving forward.
"It’s funny that people call it the X-Men, there’s a lot of female superheroes in that X-Men group, so I think it’s outdated," she argued. It's worth noting that Kevin Feige even referred to the team as "mutants" rather than the X-Men during last year's Comic-Con, so it's entirely possible that a complete rebranding is in the works for this iconic team.
Not everyone will be happy with that, of course, but after years of sub-par movies from Fox, calling the reboot "Uncanny X-Men" might not be enough to bring people back.
