10 Upcoming Horror Movies Facing ONE Big Problem

10. The Game Already Feels Like A Movie - Until Dawn

Though the upcoming adaptation of hit horror video game Until Dawn has some solid pedigree behind it with director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) and writer Gary Dauberman (It), it's tough to discount the concern that the interactive drama game already feels like a movie.

With its emphasis on cinematic visuals over modest-at-best gameplay, Until Dawn basically splits the difference between a film and a video game, at which point you have to ask: why bother making it a movie at all?

More to the point, given that the game is itself already a loving homage to classic slasher movies, it would be incredibly easy for a film based on a game that's indebted to an entire genre of films to end up feeling like a tepid, lazy facsimile.

For Until Dawn to actually justify its own existence, it'll need to be more than a lukewarm nostalgia-fest, but at the same time, there are also sure to be those fans upset that it isn't directly adapting the game. And so, it'll be extremely tough to please everyone.
