In James Nunn's Hungry, a group of holidaymakers finds themselves being targeted by a hostile hippopotamus after getting lost in the swamplands of Louisiana.

Based on the title and concept, Hungry initially sounds like a goofy parody of the Hasbro game, Hungry Hungry Hippos. But rest assured, the upcoming survival thriller is a full-blown horror with a "nature strikes back" angle.

Come to think of it, it's bewildering how there hasn't been a man-eating hippo movie before, considering the semiaquatic mammal is responsible for more direct human kills than any other animal. With its immense size, bone-crushing tusks, deceptive speed, and bulletproof skin, it's hard to think of a better apex predator in the animal kingdom. (How did we get creature features surrounding killer worms, rabbits, and a cocaine-addicted bear before this?)

Though James Nunn has only worked with smaller projects so far, Hungry could help the lesser-known director make a name for himself. Considering hippos are legitimately dangerous and objectively terrifying, it would be refreshing to see Hungry become a hit and generate a bunch of sequels.
