3. Gremlins 3

Directed by Joe Dante and written by Chris Columbus, Gremlins was an instant classic due to its gripping premise, mesmerising creature effects, and cheeky dark humour. Gremlins 2: The New Batch may not have been as successful, but it has since developed a devoted fanbase.

Even though Gremlins could've spawned a slew of sequels, the brand has remained mostly dormant. Rumours surrounding a new instalment began to fly in 2013, with original star Zach Galligan stating Gremlins 3 was in the pipeline. Plans stalled soon after, but Chris Columbus confirmed in 2016 that the project was moving forward.

However, Gremlins 3 got lost in development hell for so long that the most dedicated fans lost all hope. When rumblings started again in 2025, the fanbase rolled their eyes, taking the "I'll believe it when I see it" approach. 

But as of this moment, Columbus is still spearheading the threequel, which is expected to hit theatres on November 19th 2027. Virtually nothing is known about the plot or whether the old cast will return, but the fact that we're getting another Gremlins at all is a miracle.
