10. Dora & The Lost City Of Gold

Perhaps piss off fans is going too far, but Dora is definitely going to be under closer scrutiny than most other films in its demographic, and could easily pick up an Emoji Movie-like reputation that it might not deserve.

Dora has been on for so long that many people who grew up watching it are in their 20s now. In what seems like a cynical, money grabbing move, the filmmakers are appealing to these fans as well as the current youngsters watching, which risks alienating them both.

Dora is a cutesy cartoon show which helps kids learn Spanish, that’s all it needs to be. The movie though has made her into a live action, Diet Lara Croft and given her a nonsensical plot to follow. It doesn’t help that the trailer is crammed with unfunny banter from Dora’s classmates either.

What’s most telling is that when the first trailer was released, an old Dora parody from Saturday Night Live resurfaced. Starring a then 12 year old Ariel Winter as Dora, the mock trailer was better received than the real one, which isn’t a great sign.
