10. The Authority

In 2023, it was announced that James Gunn's DC Universe would include a film based on superhero team The Authority, one of whose members is The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría), who was introduced in Gunn's recent Superman movie.

Though Gunn has spoken of The Authority as a major passion project, its development has stalled as other DC films have taken priority, with Gunn even admitting back in February that the script has been tough to figure out, causing it to be put on the backburner.

But rumours recently began to swirl that Gunn might've quietly cancelled The Authority altogether, given that while doing press for Superman, he was generally evasive about discussing The Authority and didn't mention it as part of the DCU's upcoming slate at San Diego Comic-Con.

While The Authority may not be formally cancelled any time soon, it sure seems like Gunn is deciding to focus instead on more mainstream DC properties like Supergirl, Clayface, Wonder Woman, and Teen Titans, with The Authority likely just evaporating into the ether.
