10 Upcoming Movies That Could Massively Overperform At The Box Office

4. Terminator: Dark Fate

The idea of a Terminator movie dominating the box office in 2019 might seem laughable to some, but this is absolutely no joke.

Granted, the film series has become a poster boy of sorts for franchises that have stuck around for far too long, thanks in no small part to three less-than-stellar sequels.

What makes the upcoming sixth film, Terminator: Dark Fate different, however, is the fact that franchise father James Cameron is returning to produce it and both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will be reprising their iconic roles as the T-800 and Sarah Connor respectively.

Though expectations will likely remain very low, given the history, this is undoubtedly the best shot that the Terminator series has to make a comeback. Cameron and Hamilton haven't been part of the franchise since the universally acclaimed T2, so their involvement in this has created a lot of intrigue. Throw in the fact that Deadpool's Tim Miller is directing and it looks like T6 might have enough going for it to push it well past Terminator Genisys' abominable domestic total of $89 million.

The wild card, however, will be the film's performance in China. Though his domestic appeal has waned over the years, Schwarzenegger is still a major draw over there - so much so that the country saved Genisys from flopping and ended up allowing it to become the second-highest grossing film of the franchise.

If everything goes to plan, Terminator: Dark Fate could replicate that success, while sporting a much stronger domestic total.
